one more sign... the 4th graders painted the background
and the heart... and an 8th grader painted the words and swirls.
i love this painting!
i had a student from china for 1/2 the year.
he was amazing - didn't speak any english... but totally
got every process we explored in class.
he made me this shrinky dink today with my name
on it and i made a necklace out of it.
this was the last project of the year for the 8th grade.
all year they studied american history... the depression, the wars...
so i challenged them to come up with a list of words and concepts
a person would need to mentally and physically get through
a war or "the depression"... and they made silk screens with
their words/symbols.
and then they had fun with splatter painting and hand
prints on the back....
one of my favorites
the others were: accuracy, courage, patience, time and luck
and then there was this... a plate that got left
in the art room and used as a palette... (shh - don't tell the chef!)
there was a student who just had to paint words on it.
priceless.
and such a good way to end my year.
