the school day on friday started with showing the students my india video...
we had a little birthday celebration for my friend marie with cupcakes...
did some mehndi for my friend lindsay...
and then went into the city to have dinner with two lovely friends...
we ate macrobiotic comfort food and had awesome conversation.
they are so inspiring - thank you j.+v.!
woke up late on saturday... vegged on the couch with
the second season of glee, movies and popcorn...
and then ventured out into the world to celebrate another birthday.
chanted to shiva, ram and hanuman... in honor of hanuman jyanti,
which is monday. above is a beautiful shawl Wen brought to the
celebration. it depicts the peace restored to the forest by Ram...
it was exactly what i needed. to get back into touch with the divine...
inside me and all around me. because we had a bit of a run in with
monkeys in rishikesh that was really scary, i had somewhat lost
faith in hanuman... but rest assured it has been restored.
because of what v. said - "he was watching over you, because it
could have been so much worse!"... she was right.
so i fully bow once again to one of my favorite hindu gods...
may you have a wonderful birthday and many more hanuman-ji!
we even ate some banana chocolate chip cake in his honor
(or shall i say - 'fed each other' - which was pretty intense),
celebrated by honoring many different faiths - buddhist, hindu, sufi
with dance, song and laughter...
today the celebration continued with buying new paint colors
and brushes at the art supply store and connecting with melissa...
see her beautiful face below in the mehndi photos:)
