these are the peace necklaces i have beenworking on to give my 8th graders as a graduation gift.
it's becoming a tradition and this is my second year
of doing it. if i could give them anything in the world,
it would be inner peace. peace inside their minds,
hearts and souls... and to inspire them to
share this inner peace with others...
art can come second.
it was fun making the shrinky dink charms...
not so fun for my aching hand to make the necklace part.
wish i were feeling some of that inner peace right now
myself... don't know what hit me today
but unfortunately, i am too burnt out to understand it
or even try to....
ps. the image behind the necklaces is an 8th grade independent
project two of my students worked on. they spent days trying
to make a stencil out of an image on photoshop, then
cut it out of acetate... then airbrushed it onto a board.
too cool....

thanks deb! the work was worth it... today watched a great movie about peace day with them... i'm going to call them my young peace ambassadors when i give them their necklaces... i'm so freakin exausted. hopefully we can talk on sunday... xo
I love the peace video, and the necklaces you made for your students... just curious, how many students do you have and is your job in danger with the economy as it is? Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Roxanne
hi roxanne,
i have about 175 students (4th - 6th grades). i don't think my job is in danger right now because i got a contract for next year, but one never knows what could happen in the near future if we don't get good enrollment. we are a small private school that is young, with no endowment to speak of... so it all depends on enrollment. let's just hope the economy gets better for everyone's benefit! glad you liked the video - i have watched the shorter versions so i am looking forward to seeing the 80 minute version soon. we were in boston looking at art last night and today and i am sooooo inspired to get into my studio and make something! hope you are enjoying the weekend as well. namaste, jennifer
