louise bourgeois

went to a wedding this weekend in washington, dc and
saw a huge exhibit of Louis Bourgeois at the hirshhorn...
she became my new favorite female artist!
so inspiring and i really wish i had bought the "be calm" poster...
and the one below - why did i not get these postcards???
she is so prolific and honest. i love how she uses
whatever material she thinks would express her ideas.

i love this!!!
have not been feeling so sane lately...
because i have not been able to work in my studio
and i have tons of ideas...
a week of hanging over 1000 student works of art
for the end of the year ArtBeats exhibition
and a weekend away...
soon...and i am finally pretty much done with
another year of teaching - YAY!!!

betcha can order them :) Louise has been a long time fave of mine, I wish I could have seen the show with you!
I can just imagine the explosion of good stuff that's soon to follow, once you are able to open those flood gates! Sometimes that delayed studio time can be really good, for me - I like to think of it as the ideas having their gestation period! The best remain and come forth even stronger once I can finally get to it.
btw, I realized shortly after I hit send, that video link I sent you was a repeat of the deaf dance performers, from a year or so ago, but dang, it blew me away all over again! The close up of those hands I hadn't seen before - the elongated fingers, the eye in the palm - I want some of those to wear around :) xox Karin

hey karin,
i looked online and think i only saw a foreign website to order them, but that's ok... i'll just make something that says that and hang it in my classroom. that video was very cool and i do remember seeing it before.

thanks again janaki! i passed it on:)

hey deb - i love you too! you are most welcome. you are part of my search for energy to go to my studio... every time i go on my blog - i just go through the side bar where i have everyone listed and get my fill of gorgeous inspiration!
