international peace day!!!

ok. it's decided. this is my new favorite holiday... (besides diwali)
it's international peace + cease fire day (september 21st)
and my students made peace butterflies this year to help spread the awareness
and promote peace in the community.
a lot of them took their own peace butterflies to places they
like in their own towns (i hope...) but i got to bring a lot
of the younger students' butterflies to places in ridgefield
where i work.
i went to every business that was open on main street...
all of the real estate offices, antique stores, restaurants, ice cream
shops, the hardware store, stationary store and so on...
it took 2 hours.. in the rain... but it was so worth it.
everyone received them with big wide smiles, especailly
when i would walk in and say, "i have a gift for you..."
some of them remembered me from last year with the peace flags
and the year before with the rocks... it was nice that they were
excited to see what we made this year.
of course i had to stop by the conservatory where my artwork is, and
leave a bunch on display... it was fun and rewarding...
there's lots of community bulletin boards... which is nice:)
and one of my favorite places were we do kirtan sometimes - touch of sedona...
daniel, my friend from nature's temptations let me decorate their
juice bar/cafe area with lots of them! he saved me 10 more trips
to different places and it was great to 'tag' an area with such a
positive message.
 aren't they beautiful?!?
i put them everywhere i could. i was thinking that someday
it would be fun for a whole town to make these and plaster
them around - even outside!
this is a tribute to Jeremy Gilley and his tireless efforts to get
a cease fire on this day... he is the man who started Peace Day
and i salute to his beautiful calling in life.

thank you to all of you who spread peace, love and joy too!
xopeace,
jennifer
