even though i've been going through a bit of a rough time
these past couple of days... i forced myself to play with color
in my studio. it really helped bring me back up into the light
and out of the darkness a bit... not painting anything specific,
just adding color to masonite boards with stamps and paint
lots of boards and lots of color...
and new carved stamps
and my kitchen altar cleaned up a bit with some new additions:)
and a new studio space!!! this is my classroom office at school.
it's a little sanctuary that has been up until last week, a storage
space for student work and totally unusable... so i cleaned it
and plan to use it for the rest of the year as yet another place to
make art. today i had a light class load, so i painted - yes - more boards.
and then... had such a treat! was invited to walk at sherwood isle
with a friend. i was just thinking in the morning, how amazing
it would be to see the beach, to be around water... and minutes
later she asked if i would come on a walk with her at one of
her favorite places!
even in the greyness and rain, it was beautiful and smelled beachy...
we walked and talked and listened and laughed... it was medicine
and healing for a weary soul. it started to rain and get cold
so we ran for shelter to have some decaf lattes and browse at
our favorite store.
i am definitely feeling in better spirits... still have questions,
but hoping to stay more in the moment, give the analyzing a break
and do the things i love to do...
namaste,
j
