gratitude

10 things i am grateful for in the midst of winter:

1. the buddha charm that made its way into a stack
of postcards donated to the art room by my friend marie:)
2. that all of this snow is making us slow down,
why are we in such a big rush anyway?
3. 6 snow days, 2 delayed openings, 1 early dismissal,
without the feeling that i will need my students
to "catch" up on anything...
4. having time to sing, make art, read and just be...
all while working a full time job.
5. the color in this postcard of my teacher pema's painting!
doesn't it make you smile? if you want to see the real thing,
he is having an opening for his first solo show in nyc
tomorrow (thursday, at Joshua Liner Gallery 548 w. 28th st 3rd fl.
i will be there if it doesn't snow too much! reception is from 6-9
6. being able to experiment with different foods to see
which ones make me feel better... - so blessed to be able to do that!
7. the above chinese god of prosperity and kitchen god
altars my 5th graders made with the visiting artist - they rock!
8. not having to shovel pounds and pounds of wet snow,
thank you will!!!!! my back thanks you too.
9. that i chose calm, relax, soothing, soften, tranquil, quiet,
hush, slow, ease and bask for my words in 2011,
it is literally changing my way of being... (slowly but surely)
10. peacocks, butterflies, buddhas, lotus flowers and elephants,
without them, i can't image what i would paint?
