spreading some holiday love

i was against having a christmas tree
this year because;
a. it is not a holiday i would choose to celebrate
if i were not surrounded by people who do
b. it has turned into a materialistic ritual for many...
c. the last two live trees we got died before
we could get them into the ground, which is
not quite the point of getting a live tree.

so i mentioned getting a wire/metal tree to
Will and then left for frenchtown.
when i drove up the driveway last night,
i saw the lights and couldn't believe he got
such a huge tree! i told myself... it's ok, if
that's what he wants, i will admire the beauty
of it... but when i walked in the door and
saw what it really was, i was so happy.
he waited to put the rest of the ornaments
from my childhood on it so that i could do it.
what a beautiful present!

after watching my friend jeff wrap presents
and talking to many people in ftown,
and watching people buy meaningful
handmade art as gifts at the gallery all week, i
think i have a better attitude towards xmas this year.
i don't participate in the idea of buy, buy buy...
but i am giving a few heartfelt gifts and
books about 'giving' to my nieces...
i would like to wish everyone who reads
this a very happy holiday, whether you celebrate it or not.
i open my heart to you - and honor the light
within you.

love,
jennifer

This "tree" is incredible! It just goes to show you that it doesn't have to be traditional to make sense. For me, it is what comes out of the lights and shines on us that makes the difference. I am wondering exactly what this tree is made of however. What a great idea.

thanks teri!
the tree is made of wrought iron and it is painted with a shiny paint. i think we will leave it up all year and maybe do artsy things with it for my own type of traditions:)

peace and light to you!

seasons blessing!
the tree has nothing to do with christmas, but about life eternal. xo
