kindness day...

yesterday was "kindness day"... and on my day in the
city i tried to spread as much of it as i could.
i left this for an unsuspecting metro north rider...
i brought pema a plant so that he could have more nature...
he misses the mountains and trees.
inking my Buddha drawing was compassion
and kindness in action, but i wish i could have been kinder
to myself... i was having quite a hard time with a
shaky brush and uneven ink lines... out of practice i guess.
dinner at my favorite restaurant - souen near union square
with lovely ria... my friend and india travel partner
from 2 years ago. it was interesting to compare what our goals
were back then to where we are right now in our lives.
also, a little jade gift for her to grow in her new apt. in brooklyn
then into union square with tea and delicious brownies
sitting at the feet of ghandi... the king of kindness.
back onto the subway and on my way home...
i gave a small donation to this sweet accordion player
and he posed for the camera:)
i know that it's nice to be reminded to be kind to people
on a specific day, but why can't we all be more kind
everyday? kind day should be everyday,
so should peace day, love day, hug day, join together day,
compassion day, include everyone day....
ahhh, utopia....

not only, did i try to spread kindness, but
i was open to receiving it too... here are some
kind things that came my way:

1. my friend jen f. bringing me beautiful photos for our studio sale
2. two men holding doors open for me at the post office
3. someone buying my hot pink buddha on etsy!
4. glenn's gift of yoga therapy (and so much more...)
5. someone asking if i was next in line at a cafe in williamsburg
6. hugs from all of my ny family
7. pema telling me that i had good lines in my Buddha drawing
8. sunshine... pure sunshine and clean air to breathe
9. smiles
10. you reading this:)

oh wow
i used to do this sort of stuff when i lived in the city and commuted on public transport

harder to do this 'random' stuff in a small rural town, hard to do anything without someone seeing, noticing, knowing, telling someone else.... :-)))

if i was the person who found the coffee money on the train i would have burst into tears but my heart would be so happy
