opened up + cleaned out my studio out back today...
it's the first time i've been out there since my sale.
i have been feeling really inspired since my trip
and recently bought a bunch of blank canvases
+ some new colors.
BUT...once i got my paints out, my creative mind went blank...
and my ego kicked in
(boy its a nasty little devil...)
here's what it said to me:
1. you can't capture the colors of india,
what are you thinking?
2. you don't even know what you are going to paint!
3. you should be inside cleaning the house...
4. paint is expensive - don't waste it...
5. think "series"... ( overwhelm! )
6. it has to have feeling, it can't just be pretty...
7. why can't you just let go and make art?
8. you need to go grocery shopping.
9. you should be working on other things...
10. wahhhhh!!!!
so - time for a gratitude list!
i am ever so thankful for:
1. dancing + singing to the music on my ipod in between
ego trips, which was fun
2. new supplies and a clean studio
3. will's support of my art and the fact that
he was in his studio painting too
4. color!!!
5. the sun going in and out of the clouds
6. the heater in the studio, which kept me toasty
7. being an artist, even though it can be frustrating
8. 30 Rock on streaming netflix and loud belly laughs
9. being able to chill out this weekend
10. impending summer....

Ok, I know I'm kinda late on a response here, but...
1. Yes you can! Just use your memory (There is no right answer here)
2. You don't need to know what to paint, sometimes it comes out in the process, like automatic writing.
3. pshaw, you can always clean the house later.
4. It is not a waste if it makes you feel good, the start can always lead somewhere.
5. If you like what you do, you can turn it into a series later. (Sometimes no plan is necessary).
6. It can just be pretty.
7. Paint without pressure, just start with color. No subject matter or rules necessary.
8. Send Will grocery shopping! ;)
9. One thing at a time.
10. No time for fretting, if you hate what turns out you can always paint over it. No one needs to see it and you may just learn something from it.
