my weekend unplugged

i had the most amazing weekend
completely unplugged from my cell phone,
computer, stove, the physical act of driving and
anything that involved turning on a switch...
i replaced all of those with gardening,
yardwork, drawing, painting, jewelry-making
playing scrabble, eating, napping, reading and
cleaning out my closets:)
it was a bit rough not being able to check
my e-mail and felt really disconnected,
but it was worth it!!!
above is a photo of the felted bracelets i made
while getting a sun-burnt back...

this is where i spent the most time...
other than outside in our beautiful back yard.
we even slept in this studio!!!

loved the sparse feeling of not a lot of "stuff"
just the necessary books... drawing pads and utensils...

the air mattress was actually comfy and this is
a blanket i brought back from india to
hang in my new classroom next year...

i love all of the light that comes into the studio will built
it is such a wonderful space to be... i love it!

a view from the kitchen window...
and where we ate all of our meals
with the exception of the all natural hot dogs we
cooked on the bonfire Saturday night.

the anniversary gift i painted for will
on saturday... it reminds me of beatrix potter!
should i put some little bunnies in the
painting?

am hoping to bring some of my weekend rituals
back into my everyday life and will try to find a balance
- because unfortunately i can't be unplugged all
of the time...

ps. all of the photos were taken this morning
after my vow of being unplugged was finished:)

so great :) Loved seeing the view inside your space - it looks so cozy. I wondered about how toasty it got in there this weekend! sounds like a perfect time of assimilating all you've experienced of late xox K

hey karin, it was very cozy... i only really spent time in there during the evenings and it was cooled down by then. it was great to continue to process what i've experienced, but the trip has become such a part of myself that i think "processing" will become a practice that will continue to go on for a really long time... it's hard to explain. xxoj can't wait to show you the movie!!!

hi deb! yes so wonderful - but he only 1/2 way did it with me:) he was still plugged into his computer... but i was glad to have him on board for dinners outside and sleeping in the studio! and i totally enjoyed helping him with his school garden. wish i could come to amar's party this weekend - but there is too much going on here that i already said yes too.... peace! j
